3s & Pre-K Children’s Teacher
Steffeny Wood is the children’s teacher for both the 3’s class and Pre-K class. She has been working with children since her first teaching internship in 1993. She has a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts. Her experience with preschoolers began when setting up play groups for her own children. Steffeny was an involved Issaquah Coop parent with her own two boys and daughter, occasionally filling in as the substitute teacher.
A former 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, Steffeny has also taught at a Bellevue College Toddler class and a Pre-K 4 and 5 year-old class. We are excited to have Steffeny returning to ICP this year as our children’s teacher.
Steffeny and her family are Issaquah residents and enjoy outdoor activities like camping, waterskiing and snow skiing. She volunteers in her children’s classes and enjoys attending their sports activities.
“I love the excitement and wonder children possess. I enjoy working in a career that allows me to interact with children on a regular basis, contributing to and observing their growth and development. I enjoy providing projects for the students that bring out their creativity and imagination. I am looking forward to working with both the children and their parents in the classroom.”
Toddler 2s Children’s Teachers
My name is Tali Wang and I live with my husband and two children. I fell in love with the BC Toddler Program when I participated as a mom more than 12 years ago. I saw the many benefits of having my children enrolled there – – following this program, my children both transitioned beautifully to other part-time preschools and then full-day kindergarten.
I have an educational background in psychology, with course work in child development. I have been a teaching assistant with the BC Toddler Program for 6 years and enjoy watching the toddlers explore, problem-solve, and grow developmentally over the school year. I love being creative when designing the curriculum for the classroom and often incorporate recycled materials – – you can’t believe the amazing things you can make with an empty Amazon box! When parents see activities that I have setup in my classroom and they tell me they want to copy them at home…..it makes my day as a teacher.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, gardening, baking, reading, volunteering with PEPS (supporting first time parents and their infants), and knitting away on a fun project.
“I feel it is a privilege to be a part of a toddler’s early educational journey and help instill the love of learning.”
Debra Waxman is a children’s teacher for the Issaquah Toddlers Class. She has worked with students of all ages, from toddlers to high schoolers. She holds an elementary teaching certificate and an endorsement for teaching English Language Learners.
Debra and her family enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible. When it’s too rainy to play outside, they enjoy art projects and baking together. On her own, Debra enjoys going for jogs and writing as a hobby.
